THE FIVE LAWS OF HEALING: Charles Swindoll
God did indeed give his disciples miraculous HEALING POWERS and he does with others today. To understand the HOLY SPIRIT'S GIFT OF HEALING, and it's "true nature", we must understand the aspect Jesus' power and His Father's.
a) GOD AND HIS SON, JESUS, ARE ALL POWERFUL. THEY ARE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING THEY CHOOSE TO DO.
"For I know that the Lord is great and that the Lord is above all gods. Whatever the Lord pleases, HE DOES. In Heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all the depths." Psalm 135:5&6 (NASB)
b) ACKNOWLEDGE THE POWER OF THE TRINITY - FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT.

c)JESUS HEALS "INSTANTANEOUSLY" AND IT WAS "PERMANENT". IT WAS VERY "OBVIOUS". IT WAS ALSO "DIRECTLY" THE WORK OF HIS FOLLOWERS.
"Jesus sent out the twelve together, giving them the power to drive out demons and diseases. He sent them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.....So they set out from village to village , PROCLAIMING THE GOOD NEWS and HEALING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE."Luke 9: 1,2&6 (NASB)
d) GOD INTERVENES WITH US ON OUR BEHALF, WITH THE PRAYERS WITH OTHERS. CONSIDER THESE 5 LAWS OF HEAING WHEN YOU CONSIDER "DIVINE" HEALING.
Law 1: There are 2 catergories of illness: original (sin) and personal (disobedience).
Law 2: In can introduce suffering, sickness, disease or death.
Law 3: The Lord acts in MERCY to allow healing of "physical affliction".
Law 4: Sometimes sickness and death are not related. Eg. Blindness can sometimes be related to birth, or it can be a divine affliction.
Law 5: It is not always GOD'S WILL that every illness be HEALED.
GENUINE FAITH IN HEALING - Read James 5:13-18
In the Book of James we read how PRAYER and FAITH can lead to HEALING. I know that the FAITH AND PRAYERS of many of my family and friends led to my HEALING, and I too have developed this gift in my life, for others!
"Is anyone among you suffering? He should PRAY! He should SING PRAISES! Is anyone among you ill? He should summon the elders of the Church - they should PRAY FOR HIM and ANOINT HIM WITH OIL in the Name of the Lord. The PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL MAN will save the one who is sick and will RAISE HIM UP." James 5: 13&14 (NET)
When we are suffering it can it can mean a number of distresses: both physical and emotional. These also come with relational, financial and spiritual anguish! James tells us that the first response to any of these is PRAYER!!
Step 1: Submit the ILLNESS TO GOD - HIS WILL - and PRAY over them.
Step 2: Call on the ELDERS OF THE CHURCH.
Step 3: Respond with MEDICAL HELP - ANOINTING OF OIL.
Step 4: Confession of SIN AND REPENTANCE.
"If he has committed a sin, he will be forgiven. So confess your sins to one another and PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER, so that YOU MAY BE HEALED. The prayer of a righteous person has great afffectiveness." James 5:16 (NET)
