One of my favourite parts of Jesus' healing ministry was when when we hear of people's THANKFULNESS! There were simple WORDS and and TOUCHES from Jesus and his POWERS were amazing, but when people acknknowledged HIS MIRACLES it was truly something.
8. JESUS HEALS THE LEPERS
Read Luke 17: 11-19
Luke tells us about the story of the Lepers, whom Jesus came upon. Their illness was "contagious", and so they were "shunned by society". When they saw Jesus coming towards them, they called out to Him:
"Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"
When He saw them, He said: "Go and show yourselves to the priests."
As they went, they were cleansed." Luke 17:13 & 13 (NIV)
Every one of them was healed, but this time he didn't touch them or say any "lengthy prayer". He just gave them instructions and they followed them. You would think, once they were healed, they would have all returned, but only one of them came back. Not only did he say THANK YOU, but he "fell at the feet of Jesus" an PRAISED HIM!
What happens to you everyday? For the last 12 years, I have had many things that have happened to me in my life, related to my health. Last year, they led to our having to give up my work and travel, and to settle down to a new lifestyle. I still am a little anxious about what the New Year holds, but I know all I can do is TRUST IN THE LORD and I have totally THANKFUL that he is contiually HEALING ME! Every day, I just want to OPEN HIS WORD and share it with everyone the JOYS OF BEING ALIVE and HEALTHY, with my family and friends.
